Hello all, I was wondering if there is a way that I could bake my baby without a Nuwave oven. I don’t have one nor do I have the money for one! I heard that using a normal oven or a convection oven can be damaging to the doll and to the oven/food in the oven. If anyone has any ideas or know of any ways to bake a doll without a Nuwave oven (or a oven like that) I would be so appreciative.
Many people have used their regular ovens.I use a Nuwave. Any type oven similar to Nuwave will work. Our ALDI grocery store has convection ovens with extender rings for less than $30 right now.I considered buying one of those as a back up oven.
I have one of the convection ovens that has the opening in the front. Like a toaster oven.
If the temperature is accurate and the kit fits without touching anything,it may work.I put soft cloths under my parts to keep them from touching bottom of pan.I like several inches to be between my parts and heat element.A Nuwave circulates warm air (fan) around the kit and cuts on and off to keep from overheating.I don’t know how large yours is or if it would work or not.If you post a picture of it,some of the other forum members may be more familiar with the type you have.
I don’t have a Nuwave. I was wondering if there are any other surefire ways of baking my doll without one.
Cheapest version of Nuwave from Home Depot
What is it called and what does it look like?
E Wave from Home Depot
I got my Nuwave for $25 off of Craigslist!! It’s a great place to check for expensive stuff, in my opinion!
But you can also use your regular oven. The thing is, vinyl releases toxic fumes and I don’t know if that would harm food you prepare in your regular oven…
Thank you so much! You know what the sad thing is??? We had this same exact oven years ago!!! But it got old and dingey and I hated washing it (it was so bulky). I feel like kicking myself now. Haha! Tank you! I’ll look into it!
What size kits does the e wave fit?
You can buy the Nuwave on four payments of $24.99 at QVC with free shipping today.
A preemie kit will fit . A small newborn too . The bigger once I bake first the head and second the limbs .
You have to do two loads with the e wave but the price is worth it if you only do a few dolls like I do. I used my regular oven for a long time and just cleaned it every now and then. But I didn’t make many dolls with Genesis back then and hubby and I agreed that it probably wouldn’t be that harmful. If you are painting hours a day, then maybe a nuwave is worth it. Otherwise go with the e wave! I love that the e wave is glass instead of plastic too. And I do the opposite of andik! First the limbs, then the head!
That’s how I got my 2nd one! I love QVC!
Don’t use that, the heating elements are too close to the vinyl. It’s too easy to melt your vinyl or make it really shiny. I wouldn’t do it, if I were you!! Get one of the generic nuwaves for around 30bucks or so.
I… I already bought it…
Can you return it? Or is it something you use in you daily life? I would NOT use it for dolls. Buy the generic nuwave and don’t forget an oven thermometer!!
whats the difference between a nuwave and an E wave?
Just a different brand. I think the Ewave is a little smaller. I have a NuWave, and if it breaks, I’ll get another one of those if I haven’t completely switched to air dry paint.
