Newbie interested in what got reborners hooked!

Just finishing my first doll after 6 months of reading bountiful forum members messages and just wondering why did you not quit after the first doll?
Everyone has told me it’s normal to have a disaster at the first attempt but why continue when it is so so expensive it’s not pennies by any means it’s many many pounds… I don’t mean the artists as such as this is obvious why they continue but I mean the normal everyday person lol

It’s addictive. Like chips, you can never have just one. My first was horrible, but after that one, i had a better idea of what NOT to do. It’s not an easy hobby, especially not on your wallet, but it is incredibly fun and rewarding, especially when you get better and look back at your first!

I actually stopped for 3 1/2 years, I kept all my stuff and I’m glad I did, just started again about 6 months ago. I think I have improved the second time around. I take my time and enjoy it this time. Plus being on here you learn so many things and everyone is so nice. This is a picture of my second or third baby. I thought she was beautiful. Lol and the second pic is how my work looks now. But still so much to Learn.

With me I was my worse critic. I could see everything I done wrong. Reread many tips on each and tried again I think to prove it to myself.

I started reborning in 2002 and it was way, way different back then…no doll kits, no Genesis heat set paints, no tutorials, Berenguer dolls, wigs…wow…I sound like I lived in the pioneer days, right?! Anyway, my first went straight to the trash. Now I wish I had kept him; he was too pale…LOL…I honestly didn’t know I could add more paint.

Fast forward more than 700 dolls later and I’m still here because I LOVE making babies

Awww thank you. I’m sorry I ever stopped, I’m so addicted now. The bad thing is I have like 7 babies I should sell but I’m so attached to them. Lol I really need to list them.

Babies and dolls are two of my favorite things. I saw my first reborn when Dr. Phil was doing a show on people with obsessions (now I’m one of them lol). When the show was over, I went online and was there for 3 days looking at reborns. I ordered my first kit, BBJaden, and the supplies to make her. By the time I was done, I was hooked. I guess I got lucky because my first one wasn’t a disaster (although a couple of subsequent ones were). Reborning is still, after 7 years, my favorite thing to do. I go through withdrawal if I have to go more than a day without working on a baby. I even took a head with me to the hospital to work on after my surgery.

BB’s baby gorillas captured me and then I decided I’d try painting a baby. That’s all she wrote. It was love and I kept seeing new kits I wanted to do and thinking of new things I wanted to try and I fell in the rabbit hole. I’m now sitting here surrounded by kits that are just begging to be brought to life…and I’ve got friends all over the world who share this wonderful addiction. Not a bad life!

I’m new as well but I started reborning because I was looking for an Asian doll for my Vietnamese neice for Christmas when I came across reborn dolls. My mom made porcelain dolls for fun when I was young so I’ve thought a lot about finding a class to learn
To make them. When I found the bountiful baby kits and started working on them I fell in love. I originally bought a kit off eBay (Corbin) then saw fei yen on sale and since I am a shopaholic I ended up buying Avery as well lol I won’t meantion how many kits I’ve since ordered that are waiting to be born lol
