I am trying very hard to get these two to match. The small one is my goal color. But no matter what I do it seems that the big one is too dark… 
The only way to lighten dark paint is t do white washes, lots very thin ones or it will go chalky. You could also do the lightest flesh, but that will be even slower process. Once you get it light enough you paint to match the other parts.
That is how I fixed a doll for somebody; you can see the color she was when I got her by the color of her flange.
Also I made number of Skeeter fairies and they were horrible muddy brown/grey vinyl; all had to get 20 white washes before they could be made into light skinned fairies.
