@Sony72 and anyone with one!! I bought myself a magic chef as an extra for Christmas and have managed to hide it all this time:grinning: I go though the nuwave domes like hot cakes over here… I don’t know why they break so fast! I ordered a pro Amber nuwave done today… Another 50 bucks! So maybe that will solve my problems??? Anyway… In the mean time waiting for new dome to arrive, I opened my magic chef! How do I set it up for Reborning? Do I use both metal racks? Or just one? One is high and one is low. Also… Is the silver thing on the bottom the extender ring? I am nervous to try it… I am checking heat levels right now with it empty inside. It’s funny how it lights up all the time! Lol since my nursery is now in my bedroom I guess I won’t be baking much in there if hubby sleeps early! Lololol any advice on differences between this and a nuwave? It’s nice to actually have a spare this time! I am patting myself of the head for forward thinking!!! It doesn’t happen often… Lol
Also it seems to get pretty hot… I have it set to 260 but my thermometer is showing 275 ish
I use a magic chef. I have never used anything different so cant help you with the differences…
Mine is set at around 290° and the inside oven thermometer reads 265°… so mine is about 30° less than the dial reads…
I do not use the racks. I have white receiving blanket on the bottom then one rolled up lining the edges.
I can not fit a whole newborn kit in there… I do the head, then the arms, then the legs, or a variation of that sort…
The silver ring is the extender and it goes on the top of the glass bowl then the lid goes on top of it.
I will grab a few pics. Brb
You are awesome!!! I have it all wrong!!!
That looks just like my EWave. My temp is set at 310 and I bake for 10 mins to get the temp up to 265-270 for a few minutes. Love mine and was baking away on a swap baby this afternoon. I use polyfil in the bottom…been baking that way for a year. I generally can get a head with arms or just the legs in on each baking cycle. I bake in my bathroom on the vanity with the exhaust fan on…as soon as it gets nice, I’ll move it to the outside carport.
Mimi…LOL!!! I think you and I think a lot alike!!! I was baking in my studio but there’s only 1 window in the room so its not well ventilated… besides that I can’t stand the smell of baking vinyl. Last week I decided that I just couldn’t stand another night of smelling the fumes plus I do worry that its a carcinogenic. On a whim I decided to put my NuWave in the bathroom and bake in there. It works out pretty good but its not convenient. I also plan to bake outside on my deck when the weather gets a little warmer! Just had to let you know that I’m also a bathroom baker…I thought I was the only one!!!
Mine is in the kitchen under the stove exhaust fan. I run the fan when the oven is on.
I dont have much of an option for outside baking…
It’s way cheaper to buy the amber done from the nuwave website. All this time I was buying entire nuwave ovens from eBay because the domes there are so much! You can get the whole thing for half price. Now… I have 3 of them! Lol every dome cracked and broke into a zillion pieces. Finally… Realizing lately that eBay is usually not the best deal… I have been shopping the actual websites. And low and behold… Amber dome 30 bucks, with 12 for shipping. Half off than anything in eBay! Even the shipping was less. I am so over eBay!
oh no.
It’s so weird you guys are talking about bathrooms!!! My bathroom is GIANT. I was actually in there last night thinking… This would be a great studio!!! And it’s all mine, hubby has the men’s ( not as nice as mine) Lolol I might be making the move into there… I don’t know why anyone needs a bathroom this big. I could have a hot tub party in there!! And… There is tons of storage!!! But… The worst lighting… EVER!
Thank you!!! I will be using these as reference later tonight!!!
buy some lamps! LOL
Make sure you get a couple of Ott lights for your “new studio”
I have 2… A really big one and a desk one. I think I need another… Perhaps the one with the mag mirror!!! I have to look and get it when it goes on sale at Joanne again!!!
Nikki…I have the an Ott light with the magnifier and never us the magnifier. I find it to clunky so instead I wear magnifying glasses
Hmmmm… I think what I need most is a taller light. I guess I should look for one than is on the ground but goes up high enough to light my work space properly.
this is my big one… It’s a pain in the butt to position properly.
Jackie, I just know we were sisters in a different life or at least related somehow. One of these days I think we will have to meet. I looked on Google maps and we are only 3 1/2 - 4 hrs from each other…that’s big time do-able!!!
On a side note…I have the cutest little legs in my oven right now…shhhhh, swap baby
Nikki…Thats the one that I have but it has a removable really clunky magnifying glass that you can attach to it…makes it top heavy when attached. I have a love/hate relationship with this lamp because like you mentioned its very hard to adjust and ends up tipping if you try to do it with only one hand. I have to admit that it does so a good job of lighting when I’m working on a baby! I do think that I want to get a smaller one with a bigger lighting area. Any one here have one like that for sale?
I wouldn’t doubt that we were sisters in a different life!!! I’m game for meeting but lets wait until late Spring when the weather is more predictable. Ohhhhh I can’t wait to see your swap baby when its all finished!!
