I was disheartened to see that the thread regarding censorship of alternatives was closed, again, as soon as it was reopened because it seems that some people just can’t stop arguing about it. If you must continue this discussion will you please do it with PMs? The forum is going to get shut down and it isn’t right to make all of us pay for the opinions of a very small percentage of our members.

I dont think it gets shut down bc of “arguing” or disagreements in matters of opinion… but bc someone goes thru and flags tons of posts and then it gets automatically shut down…I think???
I might not agree with everyone all the time…
And I have been here for quite a few years and I have yet to flag a post…just sayin’

I’m not sure what can cause it to be shut down but it has been in the past before I was a member. People have talked about it here. I’ve only ever flagged one and it wasn’t the one I’m referring to now.

I went back and read the the little notice …it says it was shut down bc of a large number of flags…
There were only 3 or 4 posts…so someone must have flagged all of the posts or something to get it shut back down that fast.

All the posts were already flagged, shut down, and reopened. Then the newest ones were immediately flagged, shutting down the entire thread again. They get flagged when it starts getting ugly or inappropriate. Unfortunately, everyone can still read it, they just can’t post to it until it’s opened again.

I agree. Every one have express their opinion. Now it’s time to just leave this subject. Arguing endlessly is not going any good.

I have Never flagged a post nor would I------if I don’t like what’s going on, I just move along. I gotta say though-----sometimes I have had to really hold my tongue cause I have really wanted to spout off!! LOL

I saw some name calling on someone’s part which could have been flagged, one of the times, not the latest. That was disgusting to me. I understand a debate can be fine, but when it gets like that, that is uncalled for.

I saw name calling on a couple of posts from different people lately. I can understand the frustration, but there comes a time when it does no good to keep on about something. This isn’t middle school. We’re mostly adults here and we need to start acting like it. It’s a shame that the youngest among us conducts herself in a more mature manner than some of the ladies here. There’s a lesson to be learned here.

Yes I understand frustration. I saw a lot of things that were disgusting behavior to me. Debates can be handled better, because I believe debating or “arguments” can be healthy. It does show different point of views. I try hard everyday to see situations in different points of view. When anything is posted, honestly, it is always up for debate, because not everyone is going to feel the same way, and even if you disagree, it doesn’t mean you just have to scroll on. Everything shouldn’t necessarily be about agreeing. That is unhealthy.

I’m not sure if they do, but some of the older and neutral members should have moderator positions to avoid this type of stuff from happening. Also, they should ban people who abuse the flagging system. @whoever is flagging things, If you can’t take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. Log off. It ain’t that hard. Instead all you’re going to do is have a forum that has helped many shut down over something so mundane and petty.
Sometimes it is a person that should be snoozed for a while. And some do not realize that everything is not just about them. You can have different opinions and still remain friends or at least polite. My sister and I have drastically different opinions on politics. We know that we do not have to agree on everything. We have had heated debates but never taking these as attacks. And never disowning or never talking to each other again over it. Being kind and respectful is not a sign of weakness but a sign of maturity and growth.
