I am frustrated

For those of you who have used Etsy, how did you like it? Are the fees reasonable? I have dolls listed on Baby Bugsy Boo and I realize it is a great site but I don’t know how much traffic it gets yet. I was thinking of putting a baby or two on Etsy but if it is like Ebay on the fees than I will just chalk this up to experience and be patient and see if they sell on Baby Bugsy Boo.

Following- haven’t ventured into the selling world yet, but need to. I can’t keep making and donating for seniors with dementia without recouping some funds to help make more!

I sell on Ebay besides doing customs and private orders I pick up from word of mouth. Ebay fees are ridiculous!!! I am thinking Reborns may be the best way to go.Pay a flat fee per month.

I stopped using etsy when they stopped letting me use only PayPal as a form of payment that I would accept. They wanted my bank account number and routing number and my Social Security number. This was about a week after they asked me to change my password due to a security breech.
Others may feel comfortable doing that but I did not.
Although I still make purchases on Etsy (just bought some of Angela’s Premium Mohair today) I do not feel comfortable so I shut my shop down. It a shame because I did make good money on there.

Also I have sold a number of dolls on reborns.com and although eBay gets at the traffic, the fees are so high it seems

I have a crochet shop on Etsy for over 2 years now and it’s work great. It’s simple to use, fees are low, and had a good built in trafic. I plan to sell my reborns here when I will be ready.

All but one of my dolls have sold on reborns.com and at occasional doll shows.

I have been selling on Etsy since 2010. It’s 20 cents to list for 3 months. I figure 8% for final fees and payment fees. That is a little on the high side for the fees but it helps for my profit worksheet. Like anything else it takes a little time to get established. Research SEO and tags under seller handbook.

Opinions… Do you list your babies in more than one place? Is that unethical? I am tempted but not sure I wouldn’t feel guilty about it. You know how tempatation goes…

Thank you. You don’t get the thanks you deserve I know.

With very little effort, I’m selling them on Instagram. People see them and ask… Just signed up for reborns, so we will see. I’d prefer not to deal with ebay’s high fees.

I think Ebay getting 10% is ridiculous and now they even take a percentage of what you charge for shipping on top of that.

Oh goodness- I get all the thanks I need when I see light suddenly shine in eyes that have been dull for too long (and too soon in life.) But it is an expensive hobby to share the product from. Any and all suggestions are welcome. That said- many thanks for your kind words.

I use Facebook to sell. I have sold 16 babies in the last 2 weeks, they’re all Customs for Christmas, but I found eBay, and Etsy don’t work for me.

Good luck! (Please dont take on more than you can handle) I hate when I see good artists get bashed for not meeting time frames because life happened.
That is more than 1 a week in order to get done before 12-20-17

For me, it would be difficult to paint one in a week, much less the hair, picking outfits, packing ect. I need two weeks at minimum, but quoted the last person I did custom work for a month because I have kids and a crazy life. I did finish that one in two weeks, making her mommy really happy, but that was a baldie.

I can not imagine having tons of customs lined up. The pressure would suck the fun right on out of the hobby that I love so much. But maybe some artists do well with that, who knows. BOL on the customs.

If you give people a longer time frame than you think you actually need, they’re thrilled to pieces when they get it sooner.

Most my customs are halfway finished, 3 are shipping this come week. I am done with my customs list until January, and will be working on these guys only. I am currently doing them assembly line style. Everyone is laid out on my table, each gets their coloring in the same order. I do their creases at the same time, their mottling at the same time, their flesh layers all the same, AND I only offered 3 rooted spots. The rest are bald babies. On top of that, I have a helper, who helps me paint, bake, and assemble babies.
