Honeybug Pacifiers Newborn with open mouth reborn dolls

Hello again!

I’m back with more questions regarding the Noah by Reva Shick kit along with other kits that have open mouths lol

So, I would like to use a newborn size Honeybug pacifier with the Noah kit and also with Robin by Nikki Johnston - a few other kits that I like have open mouths and I would like to know and/or see what Honeybug pacifiers look like with open mouth reborn doll kits  Do they fit nicely with most kits or are they a bit weird looking? Also, Robin’s mouth is interesting - his mouth is open and it is quite deep on the inside. My friend has been having trouble getting the magnet that is inside of his head to connect with the magnet that is attached to the pacifier which is a BIBS pacifier; my other question is, how do you get a magnetic pacifier to sit nicely inside of the doll’s head and connect to the magnet on the doll’s pacifier if the mouth is open? I would rather not use a pacifier that has the silicone part cut slightly because I am concerned that the silicone/rubber part of the pacifier (or whatever it is made of) will react weirdly with the vinyl as I heard that silicone baby fat must not be put in the limbs as silicone and vinyl have a negative reaction when they are placed together.

This is the Honeybug pacifier that I want to use:

I never use magnetic pacifiers with open mouth babies…instead I modify a real pacifier to fit their mouth.

Have you ever had trouble with the rubber part of the pacifier reacting weirdly with the vinyl at all? I’m just concerned about the vinyl having a bad reaction to be honest lol

I use a silicone nipple paci. Snip it to length needed then fill it with aquarium proof silicone.

IMO Honeybug pacifiers don’t work for all reborns because there’s no way to reposition the magnet. When I make a magnetic pacifier for an open mouth baby, I hold it against the face where I want it to be, Then I peek under the side of the edge to see where the magnet will be most effective. It’s often below the center of the pacifier so the interior magnet would go closer to the chin or lower lip. I hope this makes sense.

Oh yes! It makes perfect sense, thank you for your explanation :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart:

Before I knew what I was doing, I used baby fat pellets (which are silicone) in the limbs of a 1/4 limbed baby. At a future date, I took the doll apart (I don’t remember why) and there were small pits from the silicone pellets in the vinyl and the plastic joints.

There is something in those pellets besides silicone I think because I have never seen regular silicone react to vinyl that way.

Oh dear! Yes, I think that that may not be 100% silicone, I think there is also chemical in it or something that makes it react badly with the vinyl. I’m sorry that you had trouble with the baby fat pellets. Kim from CustomDollBaby showed her using a silicone bra insert once instead of baby fat pellets and I thought that was really cool lol. She put the bra insert in the cloth body in the tummy area and she said it made the baby have a squishy and nice tummy lol

The inserts are cute in baby bottoms, too. I just make fleece pouches now when I use the pellets…

That’s a great idea!

On this topic, why is this pacifier brand so popular with the reborn crowd? Is it just because they come in so many colors?

They work great. I’m just finishing * AMELIE BY LINDA MURRAY. The concave back of the pacifier fits right over the open mouth. I didn’t have any trouble with the magnet, just placed the pacifier and dropped the magnet it and it found it’s home. I put a pretty strong magnet in there and it attaches nicely. image

Not really, lots of peopke prefer honeybug pacifiers because of the sizes that they are available in. There are no reasonably sized preemie pacifiers for real babies and so the honeybug brand created micro preemie pacifiers for the very small reborns and also they are popular because some people don’t like to cut the silicone on a real pacifier and glue the magnets twice. I like them because of the style but I still use pacifiers for real babies when I can🥰

What a beautiful face! Could we see without the paci too, please?

Ty for your answer. :slightly_smiling_face: I haven’t been around babies much in the last 20 years or so and didn’t use pacis with my own baby back in the day. I’d never even heard of Honeybug untill looking into reborns.

Yes, honeybug pacifiers seem to be a relatively new thing to be honest when it comes to reborns lol

That is wonderful, thank you so much for your reply! What a beautiful baby, I am glad that she has the same pacifier shape and the color as well as the one that I would like to use with my Robin as I can see the true color and the shape of the pacifier on a doll

This baby is adorable!
