Hello. I was tding up my reborn table and I found this little Johannah I done some years ago. But been a total fail, I tried to cut the eye part for eye brows but that’s the result.
Do you know how to fix somehow that mistake. Every advise is appreciated
You could try gluing it from the inside. But you’d still have to be very gentle with it. Why were you cutting it, though? You don’t need to make a cut to add eyelashes.
Years ago I read that you cut the crease between the eyelashes to use applied lashes and then glued them shut. It hid the dark strip, leaving only the hairs of the lashes visible. I only did it twice and then learned to root them.
Maybe you can repair it with vinyl putty?
You can carefully glue it shut with super glue, using a toothpick to apply it. Then, if the cut is still very visible, fill it with 3-D medium. Sand it smooth with a small piece of superfine sandpaper and paint over it. I’d also reinforce it on the inside with a piece of Dr. Scholl’s moleskin for added stability.
Thanks a lot, if I use the glue should I finish to paint and bake the head before put the glue?
Super glue can’t be baked so, yes, you should finish painting first. I’ve only done this process with air dry paints. Since you use heat set, vinyl putty might be a better option because it can be baked. MacPherson’s has it.
You can use vinyl putty which should be baked and turn it into a scar or a scratch .
