Heat pad

Does anyone use a head pad for head rooting? If so, which one is a good one?

That’s I great question!!! I don’t have a microwave so rice socks don’t work for me :frowning:
I never thought of using a heating pad

I used one over the winter. I just used the one I have at home. It has 4 settings and an auto shut off. I’m sure I got it at WalMart and Sunbeam sounds familiar. I’m not home, so I can’t go check. I have a pillow with tiny beans or something that squishes nicely. I just lay the heating pad over it and push down to make an indention in the middle and set the head in there to warm. The pillow helps keep the head from moving and keeps me from getting too hot.

That is great advice!!!️

I use one. It’s a sunbeam brand with 3 different settings.

Any of them will work but they can get very hot on your lap so you want one with settings.

Ohhh thanks for telling me! Xoxoxo Helen!

I used one on my last head bc I had glued as I went so i didn’t want to use the rice sock inside the head. Mine had settings too, thinking it was a sunbeam, got it at the drug store and it also had an hour automatic shut off. Worked really well and lasts as long as you need it to, unlike the rice sock! Mine had a cloth cover so I just set the heating pad into my own rolled up blanket I use for rooting and then set the head onto it. Once one side cooled off, I would flip the head over and root for awhile on the warm side.

Okay girls, is it okay for Nikki to rest a heating pad on her baby bump to root? I have no idea, but I worry about everything so I thought I would ask the nurses to answer.

I stuff the head with wheat that I got from a magic bag… fill the head up with the wheat then push in a facecloth so the wheat doesn’t fall out… just having the head full makes rooting much easier…and needles break much less…doesn’t have to be heated.

I’m trying to wrap my head around this, no pun intended…do you prop the heating pad against the baby head, let it warm up the vinyl for a bit, and then root? Or is there some way to have the heating pad against the baby’s head and root at the same time? Just wanted to make sure I understand

What is a magic bag?

A bag filled with wheat that you would buy at a pharmacy and heat in the microwave for 2 - 3 minutes then apply to sore back for legs etc…called sac magique here in Quebec.!

@flymetotheisle Are you taking the wheat out of the original bag and pouring it into the head?
