Got my Mathilda

I have been excitedly waiting for my preorder and my Mathilda arrived, earlier than I thought. I got a shipping notification at 6am from Mac’s and then at 1 pm my package arrived. I’m still waiting on Enno, but have to admit I’m slightly disappointed with Mathilda. She is teeny tiny, which is ok just a lot smaller than she looked. I do love her little open mouth though and think she will take a modified preemie pacifier fine. I took a picture of her next to Charles, for comparison. Mostly though I’m disappointed with her very weird head shape, lack of details on limbs and awful vinyl color. I took photos in front of a window so I feel like she looks much lighter in the pictures then in person. I have ruined so many LE kits of this color, I still don’t paint darker or even medium complected babies very well at all and hey vinyl is so dark. I won’t be able to paint her my usual light Caucasian newborn painting style, :weary: Hopefully I’ll figure it out and won’t ruin her, I just wish they used a neutral vinyl color, why don’t they?? Thankfully though her vinyl is fairly soft, harder than BB, but finally I purchased a Mac’s kit without a rock hard head  I just thought someone still waiting on their preorder or debating on purchasing her might want to see details.

She looks fine to me. She’s not as shriveled wrinkly as some, but she does have what I think are realistic creases.

Her profile is a bit strange and I don’t like the “fold” in her elbows and knees but beside that she’s cute.
I have learn to just go with the vinyl color, I don’t try to correct it now and I get better results. I use primary colors method so I just adjust my layers. Of course I get a darker baby but it’s easier than trying to neutralize.

I loved her as I thought she reminded me of Toby Brace. Was just hoping she was a bit bigger

I just wanted to let you guys know to check your Mathilda’s. I contacted customer service at Mac’s to see if I could send her back for a replacement kit due to her vinyl issues. They told me that I couldn’t exchange her, that they pulled several of her kits and they all have the same defects. I was so annoyed because the only thing they were willing to give me is advice to strip her completely, use thick medium in her finger and toe pits and to try a few varnish layers before painting her again to prevent her vinyl from discoloring  I was like ummm I don’t want to pay full price for a defective kit that I have to either discount as a boo boo or strip, fix and repaint again. I’m waiting to hear back to see if I can send her back and just get another in stock kit. But I thought people who purchased her would like to know about the problems before painting her.
