I want to scream , just finished painting my awake baby and attempting to root the lashes and completely ruined it . What a disaster 
I know exactly how you feel. I watched so many tutorials, but it still came out horrible. All my awake babies now just have no eyelashes or fake ones.

I am devastated , I had decided to leave her without eyelashes and then woke up this morning after watching a YouTube video last night thinking I was an expert lol . It was worse than I could ever imagine. She made it look so easy on the video . Have pulled them out as there was loads of holes and split vinyl. The problem is I cannot apply fake lashes and I want to root eyelashes I just don’t know how many dolls are going to get ruined in the process . She was so lovely as well I was so proud of her and now ruined . My problem is I am so impatient , instead of practicing on my already ruined dolls I just dive straight in all excited thinking I can do it

I tried on a practice head and it looked okay. Actual doll? Nope. They just stick out straight forward no matter what I tried.

Rooting lashes on an awake baby is a challenge, that’s for sure. I can do it, but can’t see well enough to do it perfectly, so most times I end up using applied lashes, which end up looking better anyway.
We have something in common: impatience. I can’t tell you how many dolls I’ve messed up for this exact reason. Lol
Let’s see her. I bet she’s cute without eyelashes. You may also be able to paint some on. I recently did that with a doll because applied lashes didn’t look right.

I thought I was decent rooting eyelashes on an awake baby. Not this last one!. Eyelashes went all wonky after I cut them. Half of them laying right on the eyeball. Took forever to redo and still don’t look great.

What size needle are you using? I use the green needles from Heavenly Illusions (40 gage with 3 notches) and I use the thicker, cheap, hair because it is easier to make eyelashes with. If you use thin soft hair they don’t turn out well. You don’t want to poke too many holes which is why I use the green needles, they grab more hair. I can never buy off her site because it doesn’t work for some reason so i just send her a message and she emails me an invoice. She’s on vacation now but she will be back on the 18th. You can buy cheap but good hair for eyelashes here Mohair pour cheveux bébé reborn
Its a French site but they have English translation at the top of the page. Any thicker or coarse hair will work. Then you just wet them down to the forehead and let them sit for several hours and cut them and they will stay curled up.

I use heavenly needles as well , never tried the green… have run out of mine so just grabbed a random B.B needle and hair that is thick and cheap mohair . Honestly I even stabbed the check , I have bad eyes so that doesn’t help .
Took photos from far away but she isn’t going anywhere I just want one finished doll that isn’t messy. I still have not accomplished that.
I’ve pulled all the top ones out just need to remove bottom

Wet them brush the way you want them then let dry and trim

Looks like you are trying to go too low, just aim at the waterline and go straight in (straight up and down). Also I never do lower lashes, you could always paint some light ones if you really want them. I would only put lower lashes on an older baby or toddler.

Believe it or not I was trying for the waterline I have very bad aim hence the cheek stab. I think it is time to get my eyes re-checked as these glasses are not doing their job.
Oh dear I thought doing the bottom lashes was normal. Thank goodness then I can just concentrate on the top lashes in future .

LOL, yup, time to visit the optometrist. I need new glasses so I use one of those things that go on your head and has a magnifying glass. I actually bought that on the Heavenly Illusions site as well. I just found a half inch slice in my Zuri leg. It looks like someone got her with a box opener. I looked them over but didnt notice until the paint started catching. She is one of my customs so Im glad I had two, I just exchanged the leg. I just started painting so I just need to redo the blue shading and the first layers of mottling. From now on I need to squeeze the vinyl while Im looking at them. She is one that was sitting for months at my friends house so no way to get a new leg. Ill try to fill it in and point it out as a flaw when I sell her. Since the leg is painted I figure Ill go ahead and paint that kit as well after I finish my customs.

I know what you mean. I have some kits that I thought was ok then when I get to painting I notice damage . Remember Joseph I sold to you I never noticed his damage even though I had given him a once over when I first purchased him.
