Hi ladies! I’m in need of burnt umber but, I don’t have it. Does anyone know which colors mix to create burnt umber? I’m using air dry paints. Thank y’all and God bless!
I love this chart!
Not sure if you can, I don’t see it listed.
Burnt Umber is at the top…it’s part of the five basic colors used to make the other colors.
Oooh Thank you thank you!!! That’s a super helpful chart! I downloaded it and it’s definitely going in my reborn pictures file
Looks like I need to just order some burnt umber. I wish I could find an air dry set of all 5 colors on the top!
You’ll be very thankful if you order the small sizes of each of those colors.
Is burnt umber basically a maroonish-brown?
I wonder if they are available in BB Real Effects Air Dry paint?
Also, I’ve seen mixed reviews but, do you know anything about making my own paints from Acrylic paint? I’ve heard to use premium acrylic paint. Does anyone know the difference between mixing my own acrylic paint and buying premixed air dry reborn paint?
Thank you Almost looks like a brownish-black
I’ll definitely be purchasing a few more paints! Thank y’all so so much! It’s so amazing to have a wonderful friendly and helpful place to share, ask questions, and meet amazing ladies!
I have no clue. I just started reborning. I use the ghsp, it’s all ready premixed.
Since you’re just starting out, I wouldn’t advise it. I’d stick with paints created for vinyl. Baby FX gets great reviews and you’ll have plenty of people to help you. If you go off on your own, there will be less help available to you.
I just use yellow, a bit of red and brow brown!! when burnt umber is watered down…this dirty mustard color can get fairly good results to help warm up baby!!
You start with red and add black a little at a time until you get a dark orangey color. Then add a small amount of blue to tone down the orange until it is a dark earthy color.
Thank you everyone for the incredible tips!!! I found a great set yesterday on eBay with all 5 colors that are on the top of the chart above and one other color also. She even gives the option to choose the 6 colors you want from a big list and they come in dropper bottles. If anyone is interested in that set let me know and I’ll direct you there. I think it cost around $30
Burnt umber would be a mix of “red”,:blue" and “black” so if you happen to have a black you should be able to make this shade. However if you don’t have a black i think you would still be able to use the “dark ethnic skin tone” color. the one that is super dark. So start with your red, mix in your black , and then mix in your blue . till you get that hue you want.! hope this helped!
