Did you ever think that this is the reason BB may have had to stop putting so many kits on sale at once? If you go pick out 6 - 8 kits, plus lots of supplies and get a flat rate shipping or even a shipping rate THEY are the ones losing money. Shipping is expensive and if they are offering a 7.95 flat rate shipping, think of what it’s actually costing them to ship that package to you. BB has the cheapest kits out there even when the AREN’T on sale. So if they offer SALE kits plus flat rate shipping, it’s actually costing them money. Running a business isn’t free. So I think we should be happy with what they offer as sales and I’m sure the bigger sales will come along periodically. Also BB has some of the nicest vinyl out there, and that’s including kits that cost well over $100. JMO

Why would you complain about BB’s regular prices!!! Have you looked at other companies’ prices? I did a cost analysis a few years ago just for fun. Add up the cost to make a doll to sell from BB with regular prices (kit, body, hair, eyes, outfits and accessories), subtract that and get your profit. Do the same with a more expensive kit( extra money for kit, nicer eyes, quality layette). Your profit ends up being about the same. I compared several dolls selling on eBay…boredom and curiosity!
Plus I think I just feel more loyal to BB. Other companies have been a big letdown. Kits with holes, awful vinyl, paints more expensive… Except winterswhimsies! I love her kits! And clymer creations! BB got me started years ago. Kits to practice on, DVD with lots of tips, everything to make a doll in one place. I can make a less expensive doll that still looks good, sell it to someone who can’t afford an expensive reborn and make them happy. That is the big reason I will stick with BB…I can make dolls that make others happy. I can’t afford to do that with other companies’ prices.

Let me clarify if I may: I’m not complaining. As a woman who has operated her own businesses successfully, I’m well aware of what goes into operating them. I’m also aware of many of the costs associated with them, even hidden ones that people don’t typically think about. With flat rate shipping as the norm, some will go over and some will order less. It usually balances. If not, the shipping policy would probably change. Whatever it is, I don’t own BB so I’m no one to say anything about how they run their business.
My initial post was speaking about how BB can’t win no matter what because it’s not possible to please everyone. My second post was about how I try to save on shipping when ordering (from anywhere, not just here) because thats what I like to do. I never said that I would not order from BB. I fully intend to; it’s only that I won’t be as carefree with it as I was previously.
I have ordered from other companies and have paid a lot for certain kits. I agree that the value is here, so no argument from me whatsoever. I have also gotten better seconds from BB than I have firsts from anywhere.
I don’t know what else to say to be any more clear on my position unless it’s nothing at all. Perhaps that’s the best until I find a way to participate on forums in a clear and concise way.

I agree. BB has really nice vinyl and it is nicer than some of the expensive ones.
The flat rate shipping has been a wonderful blessing. I think If we had to choose between flat rate shipping or sales I would have a hard time choosing.

Please don’t feel that way, we all have a right to participate in the forum and we do better when we are able to voice our thoughts and ideas clearly to one and other. We love having everyone here and you are stating your position just fine. You belong with all the rest of us!! Please don’t hold back, keep posting!!

@DollyPardon If I could count the times I didn’t explain my thoughts in a clear and concise way for others to understand, I would never participate, lol. We love to agree to disagree to agree. Different opinions are what helps us to develop new thought patterns. Could you imagine still thinking the world was flat and that we would fall off at the horizon?
