I have ended up selling some SOLE kits instead of painting for fear I’d mess up and not be able to replace it.

I’m not planning on selling any of my SOLE and I sure hope I can bring myself to paint one soon.

You should just do one. The only way you can completely ruin it is if you melt it. Otherwise, it can always be stripped and redone.
