I found a Mary-Ann by Natali Blick kit and I think I mght have to order it. But, I want to make sure first that you ladies/gents who have painted any Blick kits have had good experiences with them. Was the vinyl hard? Were there any issues with the paint sticking? Did you have any issues rooting that may have been caused by the vinyl?
This is a big purchase for me, before I spend that much money I want to make sure that it’s a good buy.
Thanks in advance!!
I’m working on my first kit from her: Larry. It has given me a little difficulty with paint sticking; it beads up a little bit and my mottles is a little uneven, and I’m needing to make my paint a little darker for mottling because it’s very light looking on my Larry’s vinyl. But it is working. I did give the kit a hot, soapy bath, and a good scrub before painting. I am guessing that there are just some kits that are oilier than others. I have a second Larry that I haven’t worked on yet, but when I do I’ll seal it with matte varnish first.
I have only painted Tiffany and I loved the vinyl. It took the paint beautifully for me and I love the way she turned out. I could not resist Mary Ann and look so forward to painting her. I hope she is released soon.
I actually painted her hair so I don’t know about rooting. It was really nice vinyl though. I have bought expensive kits that turned out to have rough spots or imperfections that would have landed them in the seconds category here at BB, but my Tiffany was flawless. I was so impressed that I preordered Larry, but unfortunately it was from Small Wonders and she never shipped my kit.
I have painted quite a few of her kits…I have never had any problems with paint sticking…Her vinyl is a little on the peachy side compared to some of the other vinyls but it is not a dark colour and is easy to work with…I love her detail…she does beautiful detail in her limbs…feet and hands are amazing on most of her kits…
