Air dry paint?

Thank you

I enjoy all the information and details you share! Im still learning & trying to improve myself, so i appreciate learning from everyones experience. I learn so much on this forum because people share whst thry know and have experienced and im thankful for that!

I prime w the reborn fx primer, i dilute paints with Golden satin glazing liquid and regular filtered water (the kind we drink-). I dilute quite a bit and paint pretty quickly while its wet on the kit but it takes me a very long time to make progress or finish a doll-- but thats just because i made so many miatakes early on because i wasnt patient (or skilled at all) so now i really just take my time & dont finish anything hahaha
But theyre only for me anyway, so i dont have that pressure to list them for sale

I miss that too! When I started reborning in 2016, I learned air dry first. My favorite were BabyFX for sure, that was an excellent line with unique products like the eyebrow stamps. I also liked Miracle Blend too and was sad when it was discontinued, and I didn’t know it was at all connected to UF until recently  There’s a lot of missing context and information in the world of reborning, but the excitement around new product development and discoveries is cool.

I have a lead on a new UV light blocking top coat, I’m talking to the creator Craig and he said the gloss is adhesive, flexible, and good on vinyl :open_mouth:

CreatexColors UVLS Clears Gloss 4050

I picked up one of the clearance BB kits and am running my own experiment with it now. I used it last night and it dried really quickly and isn’t tacky at all, I’m happy so far. It smells a lot better than Golden’s old UV products! Hopefully it helps with the fade issue, fingers crossed.

I wonder if the clear matte really is matte and would work as a primer and UV protective final sealer if applied with a brush or pounced with a sponge. The products seem to be advertised for airbrushing and spraying.

The price is great. Too. $12.38 for 4oz matte

I use the reborn fx from macP and its up to like $30 for 4oz now

I bought gamsol and mine takes forever to flash off too. Like an hour. And that’s in the winter when it’s dry. It’s going to take longer when it’s summer and humid. I thought that was normal and was the difference between that and Mona Lisa. Don’t tell me it’s yet another product that has changed. I did order mine from an art store.

Yep mine is like that too. I wonder if maybe I had accidentally mixed gamsol and Mona Lisa together but I guess it really is the gamsol.

Every other bottle I have ever had hasn’t done this. I opened my new bottle today, and like all the old ones, it worked just fine. It was completely flashed off in 20 minutes. So I dumped out my red mixture, and will redo each other one also.

In the beginning I thought this was just a winter problem but I’d never had it run like that. I’d still call it superior to Mona Lisa even the one with the issues.

When did you buy it? Mine was purchased in November from Amazon

I can’t remember exactly when I got mine. It’s the only one I’ve had so far. I got a big one so I wouldn’t need another one soon.

I just watched the video. Are you airbrushing this product or did you try pouncing it on with a wedge? If it can be used some way other than air brushing it would be most advantageous to reborn art. I look forward to your photos.

I went on his video and put in a question about that. Will see if I get a response.

Please let us know! When I have results to share of my little experiments I’ll make a new thread.
I applied it straight out of the bottle with a torn cosmetic wedge. It was thin and clear.

The paperwork says it can be thinned with water up to 10% water, but I didn’t see the need for that.

This limb is going in the window. I’ll do another limb using the UVLS Clears as a primer, and maybe another with UF sealer as a middle layer too.

Pictured: The foot has AK Ultra Matte as a primer, the calf has RebornFX primer as primer, and the top of the leg is just bare vinyl. No UF sealer layer. This is Drew Ann, so BB’s recent first quality Chinese vinyl, prepped by a run in the dishwasher and a good scrub with Soft Scrub Lemon. I’m testing UF as well as Derwent Inktense.

When I reached out to Craig @ CreatexColors we talked about glosses because I’ve heard that glosses have more durability than mattes. (Plus I’m happy with the matte results I get from other products so I can always cover his gloss with something matte.) I will test the mattes eventually but for now I’m focusing on the gloss because it seems extra special. There’s a tech sheet.UVLS Clears Tech Sheet PDF

Craig said: ā€œUVLS Clears will flex well with a vinyl substrate. If using also as an adhesive coating for direct application to the vinyl, use the 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear.ā€ ā€œFor the adhesive coating that is applied directly to the vinyl, use 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, not 4053 High Gloss. Yes, 4053 is glossier, so as a top-coat clear it’s Createx’ s best gloss top-coat clear for the dolls, but for an adhesive ground-coat, use 4050. Thank you.ā€

Does it have a soft feel or texture? I hate texture. I like how it looks if done well, but I want my reborns to have baby soft skin. Did you try matting over gloss? Would it need more than one coat to get rid of shine?

So far I’ve only done 1 layer on a few peices. It’s smooth and dry, sort of slippery if anything. It might be the least tacky product I’ve ever used! It’s a lot thinner than the Golden UV line was.

Remember I only have the gloss for now which won’t be my final layer, so maybe the matte would feel differently to the touch.

I guess I should get some Createx Clears UVLS matte, but I really like the look of the AK Matte products which are pretty new to me. They doesn’t seem to show brushstrokes as much as other products and aren’t as sensitive as my old favorite, the Folkart Glass and Tile Medium (which I don’t recommend to new people anymore) so my next step is putting more matte over Michael. This guy has had RebornFX primer + UF paint + 2 or 3 layers of UF sealer + a coat of AK Ultra Matte + way too much Golden UV Satin + a thin coat of Createx Clears UVLS gloss, and now I’m going to focus on matting him. He will be invincible

The AK matte on your sample leg looks really good. I did notice, though that the gloss actually looks pretty matte but maybe it’s just the picture.

I thought the AK matte sealer was changed and not as matte any more. I remember someone said Sue Ellen was looking for an alternative due to that.

I bought a few of those products, I’ll check and see what I have in my stash. Oh clears, nope I bought transparent. If I have anything interesting I’ll chime in.
