New Nursery!

My brother and family are coming up for a painting party today. We’ll be painting the rooms our mom will be moving into. Next week, I’ll be able to work on the next phase of my nursery.

Amy…my mother-in-law moved in with us August 2 years ago. Shortly after she was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s. My own mother had passed away 15 years ago so I developed a very close relationship with my husband’s mom. We shared a lot of the same interest in hobbies, crafts and men…we both agreed that we would “do” Sean Connery if given the chance…lol. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s it wasn’t long before we had to find a memory care facility. She wandered at night, would forget her meds and even who we were. It broke my heart to watch this vibrant and intelligent woman fade away. She passed away about 9 months later which for her was a blessing. Cherish every moment you have with your mom, take time for yourself and know that we are here for you :heartpulse:.

I’m using one of Linda Moore’s hair tutorials for her hair. She needs two more layers.

Thank you for sharing, Melanie! I’m sorry for your loss. My dad passed last year and I still cry when I think about it. I know my mom feels all alone and I can’t stand that. I’m sooo looking forward to having her here. I know some days may be frustrating but I’m looking to have mostly positive, happy days.

Angela, he is such a “keeper”!

Thank you, Melanie!

Family always trumps dolls. I keep losing my future doll room/craft room but never regretted it. I had just started to make it back into a doll room when !y nephew moved in (been through my mom who is deceased now, my son and his girlfriend, my disabled sister, a neighbor boy whose family had moved). I have given up on that room!

So my craft stuff is in a large closed door cabinet in my room and I just bought a large, large cabinet with drawers inside for the clothes and photography stuff. Thrift stores are fantastic for old cabinets and stuff is hidden away. As for the bassinet and changing table, I may take over the dining room area where the ferret cage was and move the dog cage to the den… And add a table to paint on once I can sit up longer… Lol, i think the whole house can be a doll room but the family vetoed that one!
