So Friday morning I’m supposed to have my hubby at the hospital at 8:45 for a colonoscopy. Everything is going well. My mom agreed to babysit so hubby loads Kinsay’s things in the car, brings the keys in and puts them on the kitchen counter, and takes the baby to the car. Not hearing him say he left them on the counter, I assume he still has them with him so at 7:45 I walk out and lock both the front door and the storm door. I ask him for the keys and he just look at me like I’m from outer space. So, we are trying to figure out how to get in the house. There’s no way to get over the fence and no way to get in even if we happen to make it over. Every door has a storm door with shatterproof glass and all of the windows have extra secure locks. I try to contact several locksmiths none of which answer their phone. So I call Mom to ask if she can come take Rick to the hospital and then come get the baby and take him to her house while I try to get a locksmith. Yes, she can take Rick, but she drives a 2-seater sports car so she can’t put a baby seat in it. Back to square 1.
Meanwhile, Rick is not giving up and time is ticking. So he busts the lock on the garage door, reaches in and jiggles the little mechanism which to our amazement, opens the garage door. Fortunately the door from the garage to the house is unlocked so he goes in, closes the garage door, gets the keys and comes back outside. By this time it is 8:20 and we have no time to get the Kinsay to my mom’s house. Since we’ve already determined that she has no way to transport him, we head for the hospital and I call my sister who agrees to come pick him up and take him to my mom’s house. I am SO THANKFUL for my family!!!
So, several hours and one colonoscopy later, we go pick up Kinsay. Everything is going great. Rick’s sleeping. I’m making bows. Kinsay’s watching Thomas and Friends and playing with his trains. All of a sudden, he picks up one of his trains and smashes it into the TV screen, which promptly breaks. It’s the 48" TV that Rick got last Christmas. Needless to say, it no longer works. And, if all of that isn’t enough, my washer will only work on one cycle now, and only if the loads are very small.
So now we have a garage door with no lock, a TV that doesn’t work, and a washer that is on its last leg.
Would anyone like to join me for an adult beverage? I think I’m overdue!!!
UPDATE: Rick’s doctor called with the pathology results. The polyps removed were precancerous. He has to repeat the colonoscopy in 3 months. He also has an infection so he is on antibiotics. Please keep him in your prayers.
