I have a baby all completed finished open eyed and pledge applied the works in genesis so cannot rebake but some shine on the face is really bugging me. But I worry about chipping off down the road if I do the wrong thing.

I use Liquitex and if it is shiny in a spot I use Deco Art Soft Touch Varnish.

NO baking Soda.

Corn Starch or Arrow Root powder. Both can be found in the Grocery store baking aisle.
OR RebornFX matting powder.

Genesis is not a true oil based paint. Oil based paints takes many months to cure, which is why you cannot apply air dry products over them because it traps the moisture so it will not cure.
Genesis is different in that it is forced cured by baking. It is a polymer product that acts as an oil. Once it is PROPERLY and FULLY heat set, then you can apply air dry products over Genesis paints.

That makes so much sense! Thank you so much I understand so much better now!

I’ve baked my soft touch on and it leaves a moist (ick I hate that word) look and soft feel. I’ve never added cornstarch though. Do You think mine turns out like that bc I baked it?

Thanks for the tip. It does make more sense now.

Baking air dry varnish usually does make it have more sheen than if it just air drys.
