Dyeing mohair with RIT

I bought some beautiful undyed mohair from hippiechixfibers on Etsy. I read somewhere that fabric dye is better for dying mohair because hair dyes fade over time. Doesn’t fabric dye also, and isn’t the fading on both from frequent washing? How on earth would you mix the fabric dye colors to achieve realistic baby hair colors? Has anyone done this?

No idea but for a blondish/light brown color I’ve heard tea works well as a dye.

I thought mohair had to be dyed with some kind of acid dye? No?

That’s what I’ve heard. It keeps the color from running.

@lynn I haven’t been here much. I have been “under the weather” for about a week now and counting. This is my busy time of the year, though. I usually can a lot of veggies from the garden. But, haven’t been able to even do that.
